What is Homebound?

Medicare considers a patient 'homebound' if it requires a taxing effort to leave home medically or mentally. This could mean that the patient needs the assistance of another person or medical equipment such as crutches, a walker, or a wheelchair to leave their home, OR their doctor believes that their health or illness could be compromised if they were to leave their home.
